Although caller id listed number as department of education, the caller (with a very pronounced, almost indecipherable Southeast Asian accent) stated that he was calling from the treasury department to give me $47,000. When I asked about "which scam" was he promotingthe he stated that I would not receive the money if I thought it was a scam. Then I disconnected the call.

The caller claimed I was being awarded a grant of $7,000 from the Federal government for being a "good citizen" and having never filed bankruptcy. When I sternly told the caller I wasn't interested in this "grant," and asked how the caller got my private, direct line at work, she promptly hung up without saying goodbye.

They claimed that I could receive a $7000 grant from the US Government for being a citizen in good standing, all I needed to do was tell them what kind of payment form I'd like to receive. Hung up on them before they got further.
