Scam!! (Scam call) reported by BEWARE
**Beware** ***Impersonating Federal Agent from 202-864-1796*** An "Officer Michael Thomas" from the "IRS" called my cell claiming I was being audited. He asked for my name which was a red flag. From then on I knew it was a scam. When I continued to let him think I was buying it, I confronted him with a few simple questions. I asked him his name, his ID#,the name of his agency & his address to which he refused asking "Why, are you coming down here?"At this point, he got very defensive and rude with me (because he is impersonating an IRS agent). I told him to send me the audit papers. He told me he could not send me paperwork on this audit and that I have 2 options: settle or go to court. When I pushed back at him about never receiving paperwork he said I was supposed to send a written notice of change to the IRS which is false. He tried to scare me into "settling" this debt out of court (presumably by wiring him the money) by saying he was putting liens on my home, my accounts would be frozen, etc...When I got loud with him he said I was being argumentative and was going to hang up. I told him to do what he needed to do and I'd like to call him back. His reply "once we get off this phone I will not be speaking with you again." I replied, seems the IRS would speak to me if I have follow up questions. He very soon hung up. I called back and it was busy. Apparently this guy called from a multitude of phone lines. He is very pushy and has a very thick accent. ***IRS agents DO NOT call you!!! If someone ever asks you for money over the phone, DO NOT give it to them. Hang up and report them***

Total scam. Scares you with threat of being arrested. Doesn't wait until your voicemail greeting finishes before the bot starts talking. I always call scammers like this back and string them along as long as possible. The more time of theirs I can waste, the less profitable their scam is, and the fewer opportunities they have to contact people who are truly fooled by them.

Don't Talk To Them (Scam call) reported by "IRS" Scam Operation
They'll call with a recording saying to get back to them before you're arrested for back taxes. I called them back for fun and they ask for a phone number that you were called on rather than your actual name. Don't answer these calls.... Without a doubt a scam call.
