This is an IRS scam trying to scar people into wiring money to them. They use fake IRS badge numbers and try to sound really official. A real IRS agent would not stay on the line while you drive down to walk-mart just to give you instructions on how to wire money to them.

I wasn't able to get to the phone but he left a very threatening message like prosecuting is going to take place I tried to call him back but evidently he's not answering so I'll try tomorrow

I'm surprised you were able to get thru even though there was no answer. I got the same vm after the 3rd time I got the call. When I called back, got a message saying that the number was disconnected or no longer in service.

Computerized voice left VM in reference to a criminal lawsuit filed against me. Gave a case number, then 202-870-5591 as his direct desk phone. Then I was told that It was an extremely time sensitive issue, and call immediately. Then, if I or my attorney didn't by end of day, all he could do is wish me luck as events unfolded onto me. Wow! When I called back I was asked to authorize switching to a WiFi call. I declined and hung up.

This was a person with a heavy accent (India, Pakistan, or possibly Malaysian) calling from an internet phone spoofing a Washington DC phone number. Claimed to be from the IRS. "I'm calling from I. R. S." and a warrant for my arrest was imminent. I informed him that the IRS has never directly called a person for audit, or payment. That all correspondences from the IRS are done by certified mail! They then promptly hung up.
