Internal Revenue Scan (Scam call) reported by S.C. Davis
Called asked me to verify my name and zip code. Then told me to get a pen and paper to take notes. I followed along to gather as much information and annoy them as possible. I was being arrested for misinformation on tax returns from 2012-2016 and owed $8140.00 to the federal government. The first "officer" spouted off section and code numbers that I had violated and everything. I was instructed to withdraw $8140 from my bank and drive to an Apple store to purchase gift cards but since there was not one within 60 miles, a Walmart would suffice. I was instructed to purchase enough Walmart gift cards to cover the cost and pay with cash. Each time I was given a task, I was told to keep this secret because the bank tellers or Walmart employees would stop me and call the police so they could receive the reward money that was offered for my arrest. I was instructed to keep my phone on but unmuted during each "transaction" that I made so they could hear what I was really doing. I was put on hold and transferred numerous times, but I kept playing along. When I told them I had the gift cards, they instructed me to scratch off the pin numbers and take pictures of each card and text to another number. I wrote down "this is a scam and I am not giving you any $". They hung up on me once the text went through. I reported the numbers to my local police department.
