sheriff scam (Scam call) reported by hacim
They called my parents landline in another state saying they were from the king county sheriff's office warrant division and I need to call them. I haven't done it yet but this other poster says its a scam and it smells like a scam.

Beware of SCAM !! (Scam call) reported by SP
This is a SCAM caller!! I was told that a "Chief Deputy Trenton" from the King County Sheriff's department was calling and that I had two arrest warrants in my name - one for not showing up for Jury selection and the second for not appearing in court ("Contempt of Court" he called it) after Judge had issued an order to appear in court. When I said I had not received any mail and I do get a bunch of other mail daily, he said that the orders were sent by USPS and if they get missed, that would all have to be explained in court, but the arrest warrants still stand. He even gave me two arrest warrant numbers: J-FLOO-38761C and J-FLOO-78021C. I was told that normally the Sheriff's Department would be arresting me, but after running a criminal background check, they had found that I was a law abiding citizen with no criminal records, so they had decided to resolve this in a "civil manner" and I would have to come in to "516 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98104", which is the address of the "King County Courthouse" and sign some paperwork and then also appear in court on an appointed date and explain the situation. I would also be required to deposit a voucher when I arrive and the money would be refundable after the judge clears me in court. I was asked to provide a cell phone number and was told I was not allowed to talk to anybody else while on the phone and would have to obtain a "Personal Financing Voucher", paid for with cash for $900 and they need this kind of a voucher so that none of my financial information is entered into their database. I would have to remain on the phone at all times (using a car phone or speaker phone) and if any law enforcement officer (LEO) stops me and runs my name, it would show up that I am to be "Apprehended Immediately" and hence I would hand the phone to the LEO, who would then be explained to, about the situation, to let me continue to the Courthouse.
