Internal Server "Error" (Scam call) reported by RustySteele
They called my home saying our computer had an "internal server error" due to downloading malware. When asked if this was a scam they said "If this was a scam, we would have hacked your computer already." They then asked if, for some reason, we could see our icons when the computer was on. They also for some reason, asked what the key on the lower-left corner of the keyboard was. At that point, I hung up. I felt it was a scam for several reasons 1) My sister got a call from them the day before, despite not having a computer. 2) Why would they ask about the Ctrl key on the keyboard? 3) Just the name on the caller ID, "LNP MEGAPOPNET", seemed fishy to begin with 4) How would they know that the people with our phone number were the same ones who used our computer? There's no way to tell that. I'm still a little worried I messed something up when I DID talk to them. I know some places can record you saying simple things like "Yes" to use for their own purposes. Hopefully we didn't screw something up that they could use against us somehow. Though it seems in this instance, they were trying to get us to do something online that would mess up our computers.

they called and said my computer sent errors to them because i was downloading maleware and virus, and was i aware. And then was I at my computer right now because they wanted to go online with me, is how i understood him, ya know like tech support. But i just said i couldnt use a computer and my daughter wasnt home, to which he hung up without saying goodbye, very unprofessional. And he spoke bad english so it was hard to understand him. But i got a bad vibe because he was rude!

LNP MEGAPOPNET (Scam call) reported by Nay
This caller comes up as LNP MEGAPOPNET. I did not answer the first time but when I called back the woman who answered said she was from ____ college. She was talking so fast that I could not understand. Then she asked if I was _____. I said no an she immediately hung up. I thought that was odd so I looked up LNP MEGAPOPNET and found that they call people posing as a legal agency in order to gain personal information. This is a phishing operation. Do not answer. If you do though, make sure you don't give them any personal information.
