Call from Robert White of Publishers Clearing House for $35k winn (Scam call) reported by


This guy called restricted saying my number was randomly selected and I won $35,000. He quickly proceeded to say I need to pay a 1% fee of $95 taxes. After I let him know I don't have a bank account or credit card he advised that I go to CVS to get a Vanilla Gift Card with $95 on it.. He also provided a 5 digit ticket number. As the call wrapped up, I asked 'how do I know this is legit'? He mentioned 3 ways to verify is 1. Viewing past winner testimonies, 2. Calling Bank of America and 3. I don't remember the 3rd choice. I chose the 2nd option to call the bank and he provided a bank checking and routing number to hear the balance which would be more than the amount I won because that account is for all the winners. I told him I would call him back at 662-333-8646 once I have confirmed...

Call asked me to enter option 1 or 2. I hung up at that point and then called the number and at that point it asked for either my Credit Card number or Checking account number in order to give me a better finance charge on my credit card. I hung up at that point and googled the number which brought me to this site. For one, BofA normally does not call customers out of the blue to offer deals - so that was also a clue. I am entering this to warn others about this issue.

isnt it amazing that millions of complaints about telemarketing and scam calls and absolutely nothing is being done to stop it. each year it gets worse! someone besides the telephone companies are making money from it. Our government sure as heck could care less. Sounds like kickbacks to politicians too.

I did a balance transfer on my cell and got a call from Bank of America on my parents phone soon after. That made me uncomfortable. I answered because I had called and was told they were not able to help me with my problem. I regret answering the call.
