I answered because I get fed up with callers I dont know, I also tell them to take my number off their call list. A woman told me her name that I forget and asked if she was speaking with me by name. I said, "I'm sorry, who is this?" and she just repeated herself. I said, "I don't know who you are and why you're calling. take me off your call list." She said there isn't a call list and kept trying to confirm it was me. She refused to give me any reason why she was calling so I said, okay im hanging up now.

Caller ID says “Portfolio Recovery”, with a local area code to trick people into answering. I finally got fed up with their imcessant calls & picked up one day. A man asked for me by name. Said they’re a collection agency looking to recover a huge bank credit card debt (that I don’t owe, by the way) and that there are several options for paying: All at once, or in smaller (still huge) payments.I told them I don’t owe any such debt, the only credit card debt I had was paid in full over 12 years ago. At that point, the man became VERY rude and threatening, saying I needed to pay right now, over the phone, or he’d turn me into the police. I told him I’d be reporting his number and company to my state’s Attorney General as a scam. Then I hung up, blocked his number, and DID report the call. Wish there was a way to stop these jerks. Since the day I made the mistake of answering, they now call from all different numbers. It angers me to think some people will fall for this crap. Even if I did still owe the debt (I don’t), it would’ve been too old for them to collect on, legally.
