Called about donating to local fire fighter donation. Sounded very legit until I saw Louisville Fire Fighter Association does not do phone-a-thons. Scam do not give info or donate.

I was at work on my lunch break when I received a phone call From 502-861-7161 and it was a very nice man. He told me about the call being from the local fire department and they would like to know if I wanted to donate to them and the specific organization he mentioned. Which the other organizations were to support the children. I I told him he could count on my support, but I only donate through my job. I notice he didn’t ask for my card info or what form would I be paying with. He asked if I felt comfortable with any of those amounts or if he needed to give me a lower amount. I agreed to the $50 amount and he sent a PayPal link to my email. This specific scammer was very nice, very laid back, and direct. If I was someone not too familiar with scam calls or emails, he could’ve definitely took my money easily. That man had his info believable and well put together. 01/18/2022

Asked for a donation, I told them I would think about it since I’m very tight on money right now. They sent me an invoice with a due date and suggested amount. Very shady.

This caller claims to be collecting donations for fire fighters. I didn't request this call it was unsolicited. They asked me for a donation and since I don't know this number and I was at work I told them could you send me information on with look over it. I planned to check the information and decide if it was a charity that I wanted to donate to or if I trusted that this was not a scam. they wanted my email address but then they kept asking me for an amount that I was going to donate. I think is pretty rude. I was thinking they wanted a small amount but they start talking about $200 would really help... and they say do you want me to put you down for $200? No I don't even know these people. when they emailed me it wasn't an email about the organization it was literally a Paypal invoice like I owed them a bill. It's even has a due date. now this number is calling me back about my invoice. Saying it hasn't been paid. This is a terrible way to go about getting donations. this is either a scam or the firefighter donation center has definitely lost their way in trying to get donations. I feel like I throw out a large number so you feel like you need to bargain with them and then you give a lower number which is still higher than you planned. It's very shady.
