They call victims of crimes involving domestic violence or abuse. They aren’t the police themselves, but they do work closely with them as far as I can tell. I’m Not positive exactly who they work for or with or if they are their own individual business though. They left a message for me explaining what was happening with a case involving someone who had broken a restraining order and was harassing me after I had called to report him earlier that day. They keep victims updated throughout court proceedings etc. and help with finding more resources if needed. They have also called before to ask me if I had wanted to give a victims statement or if I had a preferred outcome for the person who had been harassing me and they give that info to the DA and the judge will be able to take your wants into consideration. If they are calling you, definitely try to make sure you answer the phone if you want to stay involved in your case.
