"Do you take credit cards?" (Scam call) reported by


They've called for a number of days asking if we take credit cards. We are a community college. I ask if they are talking about the bookstore, tuition, services we provided or what? They never can seem to answer the question. Today they said yes to tuition. I know we have international students (caller has an accent) so I attempted to answer. She specifically asked about American Express and I said no, we take Visa, MC and Discover. She said thank you and hung up. I then looked up the phone number and see it reported as a scam numerous times.

Caller asked if he could make a payment for a friend.. asked if I accept AMEX. When I asked if he was a client, he hung up. I suspect he was trying to access voice for recording for something else, likely a scam.

This guy calls himself David and has called four times in the last two days asking if we service septic tanks. I have told him all four times that we do not. Name pops up as Mike Oliveira on caller id.

Rose stated she was with GDCC (whatever that is). I asked her if she was trying to sell us legal services (we received one of those yesterday). She said Absolutely Not! Then she started rattling off a list of FREE stuff she was going to give us. Gift card, etc.... I told her I didnt have time for this and said bye and hung up.

I just had this happen today (8/2020) as well, except he asked if we took credit cards and then asked if we took American Express. Confused the hell outta me, but glad to know it's a scam
