A man with a thick accent claimed to be from DGE Investments which manages my landlord's property. He claimed that I owed over a Benjamin on my mortgage. I don't have a mortgage; I rent. Once I disclosed this, he backed off politely and the call ended. I know this was a scam because I would instead have a threatening letter on my door telling me how much I owe plus my late fees, and if I were really delinquent, the receptionist from my office would call with a local area code, not one from my phone's area code. The thick accent tipped me off; what I want to know is how this individual obtained my phone, name, and property management company. Did they suffer a security breach? Was there spyware on my computer?
