I work for the insurance company I happen to have my health coverage through. I don't know if this is fraud. However, I do know the right questions to ask, how to lead them to give me information and NOT to give them any of my information. They did have my name, address, and cell phone #. However, I go by a shorter version of my name. If they legitimately had anything to do with my insurance coverage, they would have called me by my first legal name. Although I told the woman several times on the phone I would not give her my information she proceeded to try to push to see if I qualified for this new topical pain medication. I even told her, I would not give her my information as that is how insurance fraud takes place. No matter how many times I stated this and other things, she would just continue on the call. I even told her, I'm not giving you my insurance information. That is how insurance fraud takes place. I know because it's part of my job I do. So, just a thought. I don't know if it's a scam or not.
