Contacted my phone on 11/7/16, around 530pm, asking to speak to my 16yr old son. I proceeded ro ask who it was and what they wanted with my son. He then told me he couldn't speak to me untill I let him speak to my son, I then replied back with, NO, I am his mother and he is under 18, so if you want to talk to him then you tell me who you are and what you want. He then proceeded to tell me that he was with the U.S. Federal government, and that my phone number had been selected at random of 1500 people in my state, to receive $8000 in federal grant money. He then proceeded to tell me that my son had be selected because of his good history with the IRS, had not filed bankruptcy and didn't owe any federal taxes to the IRS. The whole time I new it was a scam, because my son has never filed any taxes and my number is unlisted. So I continued to listen and they rambled on about how the money wouldn't come in a check, it would be sent Western Union or through a bank. I asked why they couldn't send in a check and he explained that people misuse the money. After the whole spill of how this was a grant that never had to be repaid or no taxes again the money. Then they gave me a number to call as a 3rd party verification and was the Federal Bank of New York. The number they provided was 1-206-...-1643, and said to give them the Grant ID# NY... and security ID#178.... I did not contact the number and within 30 min they were calling again and I didn't answer.
