Scammers targeting medicare recipients. (Scam call) reported by


"I believe this is a scam targeting Spanish speaking Medicare recipients." I have been receiving calls from this number. I answered the phone today and they spoke to me in Spanish. The lady asked if she was speaking with (my name) and instead of saying "yes" because of advise from others, I said that she was speaking to her. She said that she was calling from a company that works with Medicare and that they were going to send me a knee support or a back support belt completely free because Medicare had approved it. So I asked what type of support belt they were offering and she replied that she needed to verify some information (such as my address) from me and then a representative was going to give me all the details. I told her that I wanted all the details before providing any information. She said that Medicare was going to pay 100% for the cost of the knee support or back support belt and when I asked how did they know size, etc. she said that once they obtained my information, my doctor would approve it. (which of course made absolutely no sense). So she was never able to describe or provide information on the items she was offering. So I told her that I was not interested and to please remove my name from the calling list because it was not the first time they had called and I had medical issues and they were calling me at night, early in the morning and it was affecting my health. She apologized and told me she was going to ask her supervisor to remove my name from the list. As a side note: I had answered a similar call some weeks ago and the lady told me she was calling from Medicare and gave me the same story line. I pressed her to explain if she worked for Medicare or if she worked for another company claiming to work with Medicare. She was confused, so I asked her directly "Do you work for medicare yes or no" and she timidly said "yes". I knew it was not true so I simply told her that I was not interested in the offer and to remove my name from the list.
