Soliciting a police donation (Non-profit Organization) reported by

Caller (with a very professional voice, I may add) Called to solicit local donations for some police organization. I thought it was a recording. The number is not local to me, so I asked where they were from, and response was "well, we do this nationally" . I was then asked if I wanted to donate $50, 100, or $250. I then asked if there was a website I can go to make a donation. Response was that they do everything by mail, and if I wished to give $50 or $100. I told him that I would not give out my information over the phone, as I had no way to confirm his organization, that I would make a donation via website, and he hung up on me. I don't think I was being rude. I attempted to call back, and after 3 rings, hung up on again. It seems, based on other posters comments, this is a unscrupulous barely legal huckster (giving a small portion to the police), or an outright scam.
