I got a new phone and phone number last August 2016. I have been told by the phone company they "recycle" unused number after 1 year. I found out later my number was reused only after barely one month! And the person who had this number was a crook. I am from Alberta, Canada, but then I received tons of calls from debt collector from all over Canada and the USA. I had to explain them my story so that they can catch that crook somewhere else. Eventually, these debt collector calls rate decreases and ceased after 8 months. And then I was surprised to have again one more, this one, from BC. So if you have a new phone number make sure that number has not been in circulation for one year and pray good luck the number was not used by a crook before.
