Answered phone call as I run a business and need to answer all calls in case it is business related. When I answered it rang to another line as if I had made the call and someone answered and asked for a specific person by name and would not identify themselves or who they were calling on behalf of unless I was the person they were asking about. Seemed fishy so I hung up when they wouldn't answer my questions about who they were or why they were calling. Research brought me here and sure enough they sound like either a scam or an actual debt collector but yet refuse to identify themselves as such.

I missed the call. The so called investigator Lawson threatened to come to my home and my place of employment. He harassed my daughter, so I called the number it was busy. I called at least four times because I wanted to speak with him about harassing my daughter.

Debt collector asking for my personal information when I told her she should already have it she said it was to verify my account I told her I don't give that information out over the phone. She hung up.

They just gave your info to a stranger. Get their info and cb, google them. The verification is because nosy people lie and say that they are the person being called just to see what the call is about, then once they get the call details they admit that they were lying. There are scams but there are also legit companies that call about debt. And yes, Im a bill collector but I speak to alot of people who end up being sued after we tried to speak to them about an account but they refused to discuss the account before it was too late

Called me with similar request. I have been working hard to pay off medical bills so that this could be real. Phone number originally said “Account Services” - called back and girl answered and said she couldn’t disclose who or what this is for but needed my name and address. I told her I hadn’t received any notices in the mail and to confirm who was collecting the debt. No answer and said I couldn’t complete verification and hung up. Thankful for this website and the insight.

Called 2:10pm answered and phone rang through to another line. Women answered said they were a debt collection service didn’t give any specifics and then asked me for my information. Told them I didn’t feel like providing it and she hung up.

When you verify it is you that gives them legal right to collect the debt. It’s a debt they bought after your account was written off. You are not legally responsible UNLESS you verify it is you. NEVER verify by giving your personal information over the phone. Block number and keep your personal I go personal. Thanks to everyone in this feed.
