Medical Compensation Department Legal Scam (Scam call) reported by


Caller in a call center, said she was with "Medical Compensation Department". Indian accent and extremely difficult to understand, clearly reading very quickly from a script. Said if I had certain medical conditions (hernia w/mesh, blood clots, breast cancer) I would be eligible for medical compensation. Could not tell me who she was with. I called back and got another indian accented man, and when I asked what company he worked for he said he could not tell me. I told him my # is on the "do not call" list with the FTC and so I needed to know how his company was affiliated to me. I asked how they had gotten my number and he said "State County Medical Registry" and that I could Google it. I did - no records returned. I told him that and he politely asked me to wait while he checked with his supervisor. He then came back after a few minutes and said "<my state's? Department of Health" was where they got the info from. When I pushed and said the state doesn't release that kind of information, he then said it was for a law firm. I asked which firm and he said he would be fired if he told me. I pushed and he said it was for class action eligibility. I asked if the class action case was already filed and he said yes, so I asked for the case name. He then told me that since I had said I had none of the medical conditions they were inquiring about, that he could not tell me. He was clearly getting anxious to end the call. I told him that the call clearly did not comply with the FTC "Do not call" list requirements and he said he will remove the number from their computer and not call again. We'll see. I do have to give them points for politeness, as scammers go.

Wouldn’t tell me the name of their company, sounded like they were in a call center, started trying to tell me about how I had cancer (I don’t). Wanted more personal information to file my lawsuit claim. When I asked for his first and last name ( Alex Down) and what company he was affiliated with he started being rude, defensive, and interrupting. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he told me no, that I was being rude to him, and that I was going to call the government on him (no idea where that one popped out from). Called back and supposedly got a supervisor (Kenny) who said he would take me off the call list but probably lied.
