TRIED TO GAIN ACCESS TO MY COMPUTER (Scam call) reported by ELLY
I searched for the linkedin customer service phone number and came up with 1-650-687-3555. Indian man answered -it was super loud in the background and hard to understand him with the accent. All I understood was that the linkedin number changed and he gave me 1-800-273-5970. I called, and the same guy answered! Fishy. I was calling to cancel my membership and he said he could refund my last payment. He tried to get me to download teamviewer so he could access my personal computer, get in to my account and cancel it! When I didn't understand why he would need access to my computer he passed me to his "supervisor" who was insanely rude and condescending when i asked for their reason. She actually SLOWED DOWN and talked down to me! HAH! Weirdo. As if there weren't enough red flags, that kind of attitude was the last straw.

Twitter technical support (Scam call) reported by Sharon
Called alleged Twitter tech support. Was given another number. Took over my computer through teamview. Told me to pay 2.99 for a business account for Twitter. Thought it was okay. However; got a message from my credit card company that someone just charge 800 dollars on my card! Person on phone denied it however; asked for control of my computer back! Got it back. Found out this morning I had a fake twitter account! Wow! Was I stupid! Credit card company denied the 800 charge and was able to deactive fake account. Can't trust anybody anymore!

Instagram scam (Scam call) reported by Gina
I was having trouble getting in my new instagram from PC. I found 1-855-955-7790. I called. I was given a number 1-800-273-5970. They were going to charge me one %1.10 to fix, I let them on my computer. 'Jack Williams' told me as he watched my screen if I not pay everything is erased. I refused, my computer asked for a new password. After shutting power on off twice everything came back. A scam!

Hostage (Call centre) reported by victim
This number didn't call me, I called them. I got this number from a supposed call centre for LinkedIn at 1-855-955-7790. I was trying to get into my LinkedIn acct but couldn't remember my email address used. I was told to call 1-800-273-5970 instead, to get LinkedIn. The next agent sounded like your typical tech support, had me download and install a software to troubleshoot, as soon as she connected she took over my computer, blackened the screen, locked me out and threatened to keep my computer locked if I didn't login to my PayPal acct and then she took access. I unplugged her as soon as I got my screen back, but not before she cleaned out the PayPal acct. She also tried to move money from my bank acct to the PP acct but it would take days to move it so she didn't succeed. She bragged about committing fraud and I could hear a whole room of people in the background doing the same to other people. LinkedIn needs to involve themselves in having info OUTSIDE of their login process for people that cannot log in to get support help. They need to step up to the plate. I'm reading that this happened to others. Get on the ball LinkedIn. You need to act on this.
