Some lady with an Indian accent insisted I owed Avis Rental Cars $938.15 for damages to a car I rented. Only problem is, I've never rented a car in my life. I hung up and blocked the number.

I got a voicemail from someone claiming to be a rep from Budget Rent A Car, regarding a billing issue. I had used Budget a few months back so it seemed like it could be real, but then I checked the Budget website and this number doesn't match the customer service numbers. I've submitted an inquiry directly with Budget to verify that there were no issues with that reservation bill and to confirm that this was a fraudulent call. Do NOT give any credit card info to a caller like this. If this was really Budget, they have all my billing info and could have mailed me a proper invoice instead of calling.
