The email starts out: Hello %Name%, and talks about Amazon Primer shipment of $1300 or so. Typical scam hoping I will call in and give them a credit card account to refund the charge. The return address of the Amazon-looking email is a Gmail account. You would think Amazon would use their own email account :-) I love playing with these **** in India. On weekends if you call the numbers they often don't answer but will call you back. In the meantime, I just keep calling them back and wasting their time.

All I can say is ask questions. They hate when you ask questions because they are lying. They want your business and are trying to get info to show you how to save with them. I asked too many questions and the tone changed and I was hung up on.

We had a call from this number, extension 404. They make it seem like they are currently connected to your merchant services or PCI compliance team. They are not connected at all, but they ask for information to see if they can earn you some money back on your PCI fees. I'm assuming they look to see if they can change the answers on your PCI compliance test to decrease your fees and have access to your financial data. Do not send them your statement or your signature. Stay safe out there.

I received a call from a lady that told me she was calling in reference to PCI and told me I was over billed. We went over my statement and she was right. Fixed the problem. Thankful for her assistance. faxed the statement and it was corrected for 90 days previous over billing.

She was very convincing. She said we had been over paying since December. It is now April. She needed the January statement to get us a refund. She was very convincing and knew information about our account that led me to believe she was legit. We sent her the statement and she said she would call me back. I am the bookkeeper. It gave me a bad feeling so I googled the number and found this sight with similar stories. We are changing our info so what ever they were doing won't work.

Received a call stating they were with Merchant Services and that we had 6 corporate charges that needed to be "fixed" on our account. Then he said - 6 corporate charges that needed to be removed. Asked if I received the statement, which my provider changed this last month and you have to log on to see detail. I received a call to set up login information, but never got email to do so. He seemed familiar with this situation and said that has happened to several people. He asked for our customer service number to determine what site i needed to go to. Asked me to call him back when logged in and he would help me with the corrections. Just didn't feel right, then saw all these comments on same phone number. Sorry "Chance Baker"....not calling you back!!

Oh I've gotten to speak with "Chance Baker" a couple of times now. Fast talker; convincing at first. The moment you start to question him he gets aggitated. Today he called and I simply told him I'm aware this is a scam and I'm not interested, but thank you and have a good day. I hung up while he was trying to convince me it wasn't a scam. He promptly called back, told me our bank account would be debited $284 on Monday, but not by him, and hung up on me.

Same story as many of the others. This lady called our business. She spoke with my wife and said she was with Merchant Services and that we were overcharged, and she wanted us to send them a copy of our invoice. My wife called me because she was concerned it wasn't legit. Why would they need a copy of the invoice they sent us if they knew they owed us money? Googled the number and voila! Came to this site to see that many had the same experience.

Our company was contacted by a "Nick Johnson" about an overbilling that was done with our account, but couldn't provide any actual information on his end - just kept using bits and pieces from us to push into the conversation further. He made stupid jokes throughout the conversation, when we had trouble typing in a link he directed us to he asked if we even had internet? Just rude overall and didn't do a great job selling the "legitimacy" of his business. When we got frustrated with him and asked what the actual purpose of his call was, were we owing or receiving funds, he went into a sales pitch. Same story with everyone else here in the comments about receiving notices on our billing about increased credit card fees, but couldn't actually answer questions specific to our business itself. Total scam.

Said that we were billed an extra fee in error and wanted to know if we had received the notices. After digging a little deeper, she said that they were the company in charge of credit card processing and launched into a sales pitch. I asked why she was pitching to me, and she said that she was just trying to explain what her company does for us. I told her we had never accepted credit cards, and she was silent. Not sure what she was trying to accomplish, but she was very well-spoken and had a quick answer for most of my questions. If we did accept credit cards, I might not have immediately recognized her as a scammer.

I took a call stating they are the merchant services and told us our rate is being overcharged. They said they had sent several notices but we did not respond. So they are reaching out over the phone. It is a very urgent matter because we are being overcharged and this needs to be rectified as soon as possible or the merchant service will keep overcharging us. They need to speak with the book keeper of the company to rectify the overcharge. I become suspicious. So I asked more questions, I said are we using your company as merchant service? They said they are the wholesale merchant provider and they provide for Chase. After he explains, I still am not convinced the legitimacy of his call. I felt his explanation is very vague and I really don’t quite understand what he is trying to say. He asked for a credit card statement from merchant service so he can take a look and make sure the overcharge was confirmed. I refuse. I also refuse to give any names in book keeping department. I asked for his telephone number and company name. After I hang up, I google the phone number. A search result brings me to this page and see all these posters with similar caller. You take calls day in and day out and become susceptible of scam calls. I know you would be careful but these people can outsmart us. Overall, we all need to be cautious calls and their request. A rule is not to give out any information they are asking for. In my mind, I was thinking, I would contact my own credit card merchant service MYSELF to verify the rate. My initiation to reach out would be safer than who-are-you caller asking for bank statement. If any doubt, get their phone number and google them. Google would provide answers, like this one.

Then I became suspicious and asked them why they didn't have access to our account information. They admitted they were not our current merchant service but could get us a better rate. Felt suspicious. Blocked their phone number so they couldn't call again.

My business went through a nightmare of lies with different Merch Services pretending to be our current services - lies, my forged signature - being hung up on, being disconnected, telling us to mail a handwritten document to cancel to a certain address that does not exist - NIGHTMARE but we followed through and cancelled with everyone and went back to BB&T as it clearly says BB&T on my statement rather than the generic Merch Services. No more - I don't care if ZINA COOK/Pay Pro Tech had a lousy $86.90 credit for me, she is not getting my bank statement sent to her. When I asked for the account number this was associated with, she gave me my checking account number. Enough - I'm done.

Said from Merchant Services. Asked them to clarify ACCT number. They could not. I asked company name. They would not give it. I asked if they currently process for me. They said no, but they represent Intuit. First, Intuit will NEVER call a client directly. They first email and make an appointment.

100% a SCAM SCAM SCAM-Tried telling me I owed on 2 months of statements to which I replied; statements for who or what company. She replied merchant services; I said I don't do business with a company named merchant services. Then she pretended to be from my Credit card processing company, and I asked what company do I do processing with and she named her "merchant services" again. I told her merchant services is a 'broad term' not the name of a company I do business with and if she has no information relating to me or my company, She can go stick it where the sun don't shine. CALLED MY OFFICE AND STATED THEY WERE WITH MERCHANT SERVICES. I SENT A STATEMENT AT THEIR REQUEST. HADN'T SEEN THIS PAGE BEFORE I SENT IT OR I WOULDN'T HAVE SENT THE STATEMENT TO BEGIN WITH. STATED HER NAME WAS TAMMY AND THAT WE WERE BEING OVERCHARGED ALMOST 1.5% ON OUR PROCESSING FEES. THEY WILL REVIEW OUR PAPERWORK AND GET BACK TO ME WITHIN 48 HOURS. I ASKED A MILLION QUESTIONS AND JUST HAD A GUT FEELING. OF COURSE, AFTER I SENT THE PAPERWORK IS WHEN I FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS OFF. REALLY HOPING THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING HARMFUL WITH THE INFORMATION. WENT AHEAD AND SENT THEM AN EMAIL MAKING THEM AWARE OF THE FACT THAT I REPORTED THE ISSUE TO MY BANK AS WELL AS OUR CURRENT CARD PROCESSOR AND THAT NO INFORMATION IS TO BE DIVULGED TO ANYONE. HOPING I DIDN'T SCREW UP TOO BAD.

No you will be ok... I did the same thing a couple a months ago. They helped me understand my statement and put me directly with the wholesale provider. Lowered my rates by half and even helped me get a refund. I got a check for visa and master card the other day and couldnt believe it!!!! Granted it was for $150.00 but that was better then $0.00.... I made a good choice in upgrading to the wholesale provider
