First off, number was one I never seen when dealing with NFCU, and I have never been put on hold by automated system for more than a minute or so. Secondly, message left was not consistent with NFCU messages. When I told her I would pay online in the next day or so, she said I can set that up for you. if you are 5 days late we will take money out of your account, so you need to pay it now. When I told her I did not believe it was never NFCU, she told me I worked for this company, that I worked for 5 years or more ago, I just updated my personal information with NFCU in the last month or so. I hung up then, she was very persistent though.

I was previously employed by Navy federal Credit union as one of the REAL people who called in the event of weird charges and such. THIS IS A PHISHING/SOCIAL ENGINEERING SCAM. If you have concerns regarding your account, hang up and call from the mobile app (and always have your financial institutions phone number saved in your phone). If there is a problem the system has an immediate note entered and the rep you speak to on the call back will be able to assist you. If you gave out personal info such as a bank account number, call and request an ACCT SHUTDOWN to cut off fraudulent charges before they come through, they can forward direct deposits for you to the new acct. If you gave card info, cancel the card immediately. local branches can make a new one right away or they will expedite a new one to you for free in the event of fraud. if you gave your social or confirmed other personal identifiable info, they can provide and assist with identity theft prevention steps over the phone right away too, though after the latest leaks we are all kinda hosed as far as identity goes anyway lol.
