Financial services reported by 91.196.69.xxx
kept asking me to verify who i was. told them nothing and that RBC would never try to contact me by phone. If there is a problem RBC will send a letter and hung up on them. Called the number on back of my card and was told no record anyone on their end needing to contact me about any offers or problems. Did the right thing by giving them no answer and hanging up

RBC Royal Bank (Financial services) reported by Shahnewaz Ahmed
Legitimate RBC number. Agent followed up with an existing offer under my account. Of course they knew my account details and personal information. I suspect this Caller ID has been spoofed numerous times by scammers and fraudsters, so beware.

RBC mortgage (Financial services) reported by andy
I got a call from a person claiming a RBC rep has my full name and mortgage maturity date, and would like to help me with early renewal. I scheduled a call at another time with him. I called RBC at 1-800-769-2511, got transferred to the mortgage department, told them the story with this 6551 number, and they confirm that they have no record of any rep contacting me, nor any scheduled appointment. I therefore conclude that it is a scam.

Seems wierd and unlike others, they said it was RBC collections (Debt collector) reported by Bill
I've read the other comments and it seems like they call for financial services/to offer credit cards. Well, not me, when my wife answered and they asked for me and she asked what it was concerning, they said "collections". I have an RBC account and credit card, in good standing. So why then, would they be calling me about collections?! Too weird and my wife told them I don't live here anymore and haven't for months. lol. So of course, I searched it online and it seems to be a similar but different number to RBC, as others said and sounds very suspicious. Caller I.D. came up as RBC too, but I know it's not hard to spoof that. And I have had many other scam calls lately, that spoof numbers from a city about an hour away from me.

RBC? (Financial services) reported by anon
They called me and knew my name and knew I had a student account. They didn't offer me anything but just asked if I was satisfied with my banking and if I had any concerns. Hung up after I said I was satisfied and didn't have any questions. Told me I could call the number on the back of my card if I had any concerns. The number on the back of my card is 2511, not 2551.

Same thing just happened to me, only thing I could imagine is an autodialler that confirms working numbers, I’m expecting them to call again.. I didn’t know it was easy to spoof caller Id or I wouldn’t have answered it. Leave a message. I like my bank tho.

Person claimed to be from RBC. (Scam call) reported by Shari
They said they were RBC, my husband answered the call but they only wanted to talk to me. He said the account was in his name as well that it a joint account and if he was really calling from RBC he would see my husband's name on the account in front of him. Guy hung up immediately after.

Caller ID was RBC (Call centre) reported by aijeelee
It was a late call, after 8 PM so that seemed out of place. He asked me to verify my name, never have me his, informed me that the call would be monitored for quality or whatever, buttered me up about being an RBC client so long, told me an offer for a credit card came across the table Nov 7 for me that I could take advantage of until January something.... When he reiterated that this was because I was a valued customer I hadn't been able to get a word in edge-wise so I said “Thank you!” and he basically chortled at me sarcastically and continued his spiel. He then told me that I specifically had the opportunity to fold any other outstanding debts I might have into this card which seemed weird and too coincidental since I have been struggling with several smaller debts. I am wondering if this is a debt collector trying to get in the back door ??? I asked him if my current address was up to date because I vied in for paper statements and they are still going to my old address and he had my current address on file and when I asked if he could fix that in the system he just said “well that's good they have the right one now.” I said that's fine I will fix it in person and talk the other over with my hubby. Conversation was conveneal enough to be legit but he was a little off. So I am wondering.

I have received a call from this number 3 times now. Once I missed it (they left a VM w/o any sound) and the other 2 times I answered and waited for something to speak and when I didn’t respond, they hung up without saying a single word. After reading the above comments I am surprised it’s RBC and am also surprised they keep calling me!

I answered. Caller sat there silently as I said "Hello? Hello?" (Scam call) reported by Hedda
1-800-769-8751 called my home at 8:30am. I answered, "Hello" and the caller sat there in silence. "Hello!" 'Hello, HELLO!" I said. Caller remained silent, but they were still there listening to me say "Hello" like an ****. After twenty seconds of helloing at them, i hung up and blocked the number. We're on the no-call lists and have no outstanding bills, we even opt out from junk mail and don't list our phone number on voter registration (a sure way to get tons of unwanted calls, btw) so I can only conclude that this was a scam telemarketer not wanting to talk to a young person. Our phone is listed in my grandpa's name and we get all the scammers targeting elderly people.

claimed to be RBC to improve and review my services with them (Financial services) reported by suspicious
knew my name but vague after , I said I would not discuss this matter on the phone and I hung up then I called RBC with the number on my card 2511 instead of 2551 and they told me this is not one of their numbers. I called the credit card and said I was eligible to an upgrade? so I am confused real or not. Maybe RBC is mixed up to because on tweeter rbc claimed that this is a real number. The best is never to discuss over the phone if a person calls you. go to the branch or call with a different well known number of your bank.

RBC Financial services (Financial services) reported by Edna
I normally don't answer these calls, but this time I did. I didn't give any information but called the number back to confirm its legitimacy and spoke to RBC about the reason for the call. I am satisfied that this is a real RBC number to offer clients additional services.

This is a valid RBC Number (Financial services) reported by Anna
I understand the skepticism with all the phone scams out there. This is a real RBC number where they offer promotions on their services/ pre-approved credit card/ etc. RBC has the voice security feature when you call this number back. I opted to get the pre-approved credit card and 24 hours later (even without the card yet) it has been added on my RBC mobile app.

LIES...RBC number is 1 (800) 769-25xx while this number ends in 2551. This is a scam. please do not give out your personal information to these people. Secondly the english speaking is poor quality which is another sign that it is scam. Not to be bias but Persons migrating to Canada have to pass the English test that includes clear spoken engligh.
Someone
Wrong. A phone number/caller id can be spoofed (faked/falsified). Calling back or checking the legitimacy of a phone number online is in no way a validation that the person calling is actually calling from the caller id displayed. Never give any personal information to an incoming call.

Scam call reported by B, in Barrie
not RBC, Call your branch when in doubt

Remember, whether its owned by the bank or a 3rd party operating on banks behalf, they have your info in front of them when they call. The person answering (ideally you) is just another voice on the phone. To protect the clients (you and the bank), they have to verify you by asking questions and cannot divulge details to an unknown. Hence the vagueness. So many people are conditioned to expect a scam, but a pro scammer would get info out of you before you realized it, and a newbie bank call centre worker is clumsier. To bad most of us have it backwards.

Seemed to be RBC? (Financial services) reported by Bailey
The man claimed to be from RBC and asked about how my two RBC accounts were working for me and offered suggestions for how get better use out of them. Then he asked if I had thought about getting a credit card through them and I said yes but that I wanted to speak to someone at a physical branch. He said that I could ask him any questions so that I wouldn't have to make the trip into my branch and that I had been pre-approved for a credit card. He didn't tell me which one because he said he wanted to know what I wanted out of a credit card first. He started to explain the different types of credit cards available but I had to go because of errands. He asked if he could call me back at another time and I said no, that I would just go into a physical bank. And then I got another call from this same number 30 minutes later that I didn't pick up.

very suspicious call supposedly from RBC (Telemarketer) reported by Taniel Varoujean
the caller ID indicated RBC, they said they are from RBC, and they asked for information related to my RBC accounts; i did not provide any, of course, and alerted RBC immediately - with a secured message -; if this is really RBC, it's chocking; but I highly doubt it; be careful; don't give any info to anybody you don't personally know and recognize, on the phone; just hang up...
