Automated call to determine if a number is active to start scams,etc (Silent call) reported by


I worked in a call centre before, we called them blank alerts. They would be sent out every so often for an entire day to reaffirm what we call an active callers list. This list is exchanged and sold between telemarketing companies as well as scam companies. If you receive one of these calls and later get a call from an unknown number you are suspicious about answering, pick up the phone and remain silent. This will remove you temporarily from the active callers list amd companies who use the active data will not call you, until you answer the blank alert call and say something. If you answer the phone and do not speak, you will not be added to the list
