Never EVER pick up this call.! These SCAMMERS dig Into peoples profiles for Very Very OLD DEBTS WHICH CANNOT BE COLLECTED BY LAW (debts whose STATUTE of LIMITATIONS Have Expired A Long Time Ago ) . They call themselves ChapterLaw.Com or ChapterLaw.Ca , and claim that they are a LAW FIRM From Toronto. Then they Email you, and threaten you with a fake lawsuit , claiming that they'll call your employer and shame you ; that they'll go into your bank account and garnish your wages , seize your property , and anything in your name .. ????????????????????. Seriously , what a bunch of **** is that ? Please note that all these are scare tactics that are ILLEGAL BY LAW and DO NOT WORK . The statute of Limitation of every province / state varies (mostly 2 or 3 years) . This means that if your debtor cannot get you to answer your phone for 2 years , and even if they get you on phone and you do not acknowledge the debt you owe them, then By Law, they cannot claim that debt ever again, because the statute of limitation has passed ! THEREFORE DO NOT ANSWER THEIR CALL AND DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR B.S . Loans which are unrecoverable after a certain time eg 3yrs , 4 or 5 yrs etx (based on the state / province Statute of limitations) , aren't legally recoverable and you don't pay back.! (Please find out about STATUTE OF LIMITAITON FOR DEBTS IN YOUR AREA ) Many people don't know this ! *PLEASE KNOW YOUR RIGHTS* AND LEARN HOW TO FIGHT TH3SE DEMONS BACK ! These **** might start scaring you about a loan that is 4,5, 6 , 7 , 8, 10 yrs old etx, and if you fall into their threats and start paying , you'll have lost your money to scammers.! just don't pick up.! ignore them ..! They have been threatening me for about a year now. Knowing that I do not have any debt, I did not answer them. They threatened legal action and said they would garnish wages (to pay for the debt I don't have??!?!?!). Be aware of this number and several numbers close to it. I have blocked so many of their numbers and added their email address to my spam (but they keep finding new numbers and emails to contact me with). They go by the name Chapter Law, but if you google the address they provide in their emails, they don't have an office there. Also, they have many scam complaints against them through the Better Business Bureau https://www.bbb.org/ca/on/toronto/profile/lawyers/chapter-law-professional-corporation-0107-1391021/complaints#1029972150 It's more of an annoyance for me because they are relentless...but I can't imagine actually having debt and thinking that this is real. IT IS NOT! Always research before responding to a debt collector (real or fake).
