Called my phone and left a message without my phone ringing. Said they work for my local library IN CANADA and to call the circulation desk. The number they left was for our library but no one there knew anything about it and said they didn't call me. It is illegal in Canada to falsely represent yourself as a debt collector, they claimed to be an employee of our library. I dont have any overdue items or owe any late fees as our libraries here don't charge overdue fees anymore.

Caller left a very brief message stating this is for the parents of Liam (?) not my kids name nor had I ever heard of the library she’s referring too. Very strange call.

I did have an overdue library item that I have since returned. I got another call from this same number. I called the library and they verified the company they use for debt collectors is Unique Management and that is what the recording said when I called the number back. Library employee was going to call Unique Management to clear my name up since the item was returned, I no longer have a debt.

This is a debt collection agency that works for local public libraries. Specifically unreturned books, dvds etc. They suggest you go to your local public library and pay your debt or return the items and pay the overdue fees. If you don't they will try to collect the debt from you at a later time. Simply return your items and you won't have to deal with them.

You need to teach your staff the laws regarding calling folks in other countries. They falsely portray themselves as employees of the library here in Canada when they are not. That is illegal!!
