They are phishing for information. They might already have some information already on you. These people already knew my name and DOB. They called to 'verify my DOB', but when I asked who they were, they responded with "I cannot reveal that information until I verify your DOB". I said "no". He responded with "I'll have to mark that as a refusal to verify." and hung up.

A female voice mispronounced my name and wanted to verify my date of birth. She refused to identify herself or why she was calling. I never identified myself either, I simply said how can I help you. She asked again to verify personal information. How can I help you? She hung up without letting me know why she was calling.

Lady called my husbands line wanting me, all my personal has my number. My husband said she had been calling all week. I got his phone and asked what can I help you with. She needed to veryify that I was me, NO< I said, can I ask you, What company is this? She told me Vlanta? USA. I said what kind of company is that bank, collection, ect. She gave me the name again. She told me she could not answer that question until I give her my personal stuff and again its on my husbands number. I told her no and asked again what kind of company and she then said you have a nice day and hung up. Do I not have a right to know that at all?

She asked me to verify my name and birthday. She never stated where she was calling from or who she was. I'm pretty sure that legitimate bill collectors are required by law to state where they are calling from and whom they are. I never give out personal information on the phone unless I initiate a call to someone specifically. Beware!
