Another Fake "Dept. of Treasury" Call (Scam call) reported by


Caller left a recorded message. "Department of Treasury" making second call attempt with regard to unpaid taxes and imminent lawsuit. The IRS will NEVER contact you by phone--EVER. The IRS will only contact you by mail. Do not ever answer these calls. They are a scam to get you to part with credit card or other personal identity data. Don't call back because it only indicates to the scam operators that your phone number is valid and that there's a human (a "mark") to be scammed. Don't pick up. Block the caller.

It was a robot with a female voice claiming to be the IRS. No names were given and it was just stated that my name was under federal investigation and I should not try to disregard the call. Also, I have an app that blocks unknown calls and sends then straight to voicemail. From the time the call was sent to voicemail to when the entire message (1 minute or so) was left, it was less than 2 seconds. DO NOT CALL BACK OR GIVE ANY INFORMATION!!!

Left a voicemail claiming to be from the IRS and that I needed to call them back because legal action was being taken against me. NOT the IRS. I'm not under investigation. The voicemail didn't have any of my personal information, not even my name. This is very likely a phishing scam to get you to tell them all your personal data so that they can steal your identity. Do not call them back. BLOCK!

Received this call just now. As mentioned by the others below, the recording was telling I was under investigation. However, I haven't ever faulted on taxes or had issues. This is a scam. Area code is from S. Carolina.

Wife got a random call from this number. Claimed to be from the IRS regarding some problem with the IRS. No way IRS would make this kind of call. I've heard of these calls before and this one fits the description perfectly.Total scam.
