Microsoft License Expiration Scam (Scam call) reported by


Just got called by them, Aug 1, 2019 around 3:30 pm about my Microsoft license expiring. I called back and a man named Michael tried telling me to press the "Windows" key on my computer, which is a MacBook. I told them I have an Apple computer and they transferred me to another man named John, who still tried insisting that I press the key. I asked them when their records say I purchased the Microsoft license, and they told me 2016. I told them I bought my computer last month (untrue, but still effective). John asked me if I was kidding, and when I said I wasn't he said "well I think you are!" then began speaking in another language to someone in the room with him. I called back again, figuring I could waste their time and keep them from scamming someone who doesn't know any better. They answered as Microsoft and I told them we got disconnected. The man who answered must have tried to insult me (he said "kiss me"??) and hung up on me. I called again since this was becoming fun. I said that we got disconnected once again and he hung up. On my third attempt, they did not pick up. I waited a while and the same man answered. I asked if he was going to help me with my computer still and he changed his story and said they were a laundry. I'd have to say they were smart to have a cover story, but they are scammers nonetheless.
