As mentioned by other commenters, I was notified by a recorded message that either I or my attorney must return the call or else "good luck." The phone number looked unusual and there were a few uncanny quirks to the recording.

called back thinking it was from my airline regards to my lost suitcase, and a very rude lady answered. I asked her why I have been called by the number and she told me to give her information. I asked her why I would get a call and she rudely said "well if I don't know your information, then I cannot give you a reason why". So I told her my name but not my legal name, my address that I have never put on official documents and told her I don't have my SIN number with me. She still proceeded to "look for my information" and returned and said I was a prime suspect in tax fraud and that the police are coming to arrest me in 45min. First, there is no way that she could have found me on the system. Second, I am a student that doesn't even work... so ... she said I have been avoiding tax. Anyway, she told me to get a lawyer and I told her I will wait and let them arrest me. She got frustrated and just said well good luck and hung up.

Received a call from this number today... It sounded like it was maybe a recording... but, was noisy in the background and the person speaking sounded nervous - breathing heavy etc. He had an accent and claimed he was an officer from the CRA Tax Fraud Department. Said I was to call back. I hung up. I then called back just out of curiosity (I wish I would have kept him on the line... I really don't believe it was a recording...I should have tried to interrupt him or something... play with them a bit). Anyway, after I called back it just went to a recording saying push the extension you wish to speak to or dial by name. I pushed every number in the dial by name...and all were empty. A recording then came on saying that the number had been blocked from my provider. (Which it hasn't been)

Caller pretending to be Canada revenue agency and left a threatening voicemail. It sounds like they picked up the cell phone out of their pocket... I called at 530 when normal CRA lines are closed and the caller promptly picked up. Has a foreign accent. They asked for my first and last name but I told them since they called they can provide me with my name when they look up the phone number and they quickly hung up.

I (the police) called the number after someone reported to us getting scammed by someone at this number who called him, saying they were CRA and he owed money. The male said he was some CRA agent. I introduced myself as police. He said he did not have to talk to me and he hung up. Its a scam artist.

The person who answered when I return the call, says her name and badge # and told me she is from CRA, they ask for my name and SIN so they can check what is the reason why they are calling.I almost give my Social Insurance but Im glad I didnt. As soon as I said Im not comfortable giving my personal info over the phone, she hung up.

The CRA would not call they would send a letter. Not to mention that in my case they called my new cell number which was not on my tax forms. I would also expect that if the CRA was to make an automated call to me it would be a recorded message and not a machine voice from the 90's. Furthermore this message would not end in a threat saying "if you do not call back I wish you good luck as the situation will be entirely on you"

Robocall from 'Officer R. W.' - 'hotline division' # recorded as 844-826-1198 - time sensitive, if you don't return the call ... something about consequences 'as the situation unfolds on you'. As reported in other accounts - no reference number. Impossible to make out initial part of call which would seem to identify who they were calling on behalf of.

The reason why I doubt this call is legit, is the fact that the man talking in the generated message just said "if you do not call back, I wish you good luck..." not really the way the actual CRA would be talking to people, did not sound professional at all. The sense of urge to call back is very suspicious
