These are scammers that have spoofed the real Edfinancial's phone number. Studentaid.gov states, "Never give personal information over the phone or internet unless you made the contact". Student loan providers will not call you to ask you for *any* information, and if you receive a call from this number, ignore it. If you've picked up, do not answer any questions - even if they're not as immediately obvious ones like "what's your bank routing and account numbers?"

I've received calls from Edfinancial before and the conversation didn't begin like this one. The woman didn't say who she was just asked if I was my name, which she struggled to say. I assumed it was a scam so I hung up. I don't know why Edfinanicial would be calling because my loan is still covered under COVID-19 aid. Even prior to that, I've never missed a payment.

My guess is some scammer is spoofing the number. I just received a call and share your opinion...why would they call when no payments are due? I don't trust any incoming call anymore if I did not initiate the contact or the number is in my contacts.
