Debt Collector Scam alert (Debt collector) reported by Craig Bickford
They do NOT identify themselves, they simply say “Corporate office”. They did not call me directly but rather called my elderly mother’s house and left a serious and scary message for me implying that a lawsuit was imminent. Calling a third party is illegal for the purposes of debt collection. I called back and spoke with a “Franklin Parker” who proceeded to tell me that I owed over $10k to First USA Bank for a credit card. I never EVER had a credit card with First USA bank. First USA bank is a known scam company that likes to collect debt from people that don’t owe it. He proceeded to talk about pulling my credit report for “asset liability” and talked about my going to court and then getting anjudgement etc... I never received a notice (they say they sent one), and I have checked all three of my credit reports and NONE of them show me owing this debt nor do they show any inquiries to my credit history from anybody. It is illegal for them to threaten to take me to court if they have no intention to do so. So time will tell on that one. Mr Parker then proceeded to argue with me that NOBODY in the country ever pays debts that they don’t owe because of relentless, unscrupulous debt collectors preying on people trying to convince them they owe it even though you see this exact thing featured in the news and all over social media all the time. Watch out for these guys!
