Trying to collect from relative of deceased mom (Debt collector) reported by


I answered, and they identify themselves as ascension point financial, and said they were looking for someone with the authority to speak on the estate of ……. (My deceased mom). I asked what this was in regard to, and he just kept saying that he needed to put me through a verification process to tell me anything. he then offered his condolences, but wanted me to confirm my mothers date of death as well as my full name. I repeated that I would need to know what it was in regard to before giving out that type of information, and he said he was only asking for things that were public record. I told him that my name was not public record and that if he had the information I didn’t need to provide it. I also told him that the estate had been settled and closed, and that notification to creditors had been published over a year ago. He got annoyed and said “ if you don’t want to continue with the call, that’s fine but you’ll be hearing from us” and hung up. Read up on ascension point debt collection. They are known for this and for praying on the loved ones of deceased persons. Disgusting. Do not answer their questions and definitely do not send them any payments. Even if your loved one did have outstanding debts, there’s a statute of limitations, for how long companies can collect. If you make a payment, you start the statute of limitation’s over again!

Caller said he was from Asencion Point and that he was on a recorded line. He was looking for the person responsible for a deceased relative's estate. I asked what this was about and he said he could not tell me. He wanted information from me, which I did not give him. He said they would be sending a letter. He must have gotten the relative's name fromthe obituaries. WHAT SCUM!!!
