Debt collector that intentionally buys bad debt for pennies and then uses the tax-payer funded court system to try and intimidate people into paying the original amount. The court system is supposed to be for justice not to support a scam business model. Why do we allow this at public expense? They know the debt is bad when they buy it so they haven't actually lost the money they are trying to recover. The laws that allow public money to support a business based on intentionally buying bad consumer debt are terribly outmoded.

Not to defend this caller, but in general. Debt collections is a good practice. This version may not be the best version it can be. The original lender and the borrower are the two parties that went array. Either they lent money to someone not credit worthy, or the borrow took a loan they couldn't afford. The debt collector collects for lenders, because they are built to collect. Lenders are built to lend. If they chase their loaned money all day, they couldn't lend as efficiently. The lender, wrote it off as a loss. That is where the tax payer money comes in. The borrow costs all other borrower's in the form of interests charges to ensure the lender stays profitable. The collector recovers some of that charged off debt and as a reward for their speculative risk and ability to return. Courts only come into play on high dollar secured debts and bankruptcies. Courts give those away because it makes them money, their attorney pals money and costs the ordinary bill paying population screwed all the way around. How about everyone lend with more scrutiny, borrow a little more responsibly, and squeeze the debt collectors out of a job?
