Vacation travel scam from company that does not exist. (Scam call) reported by


I was called from a number with the same area code as mine. If you call back the number, it does not exist. So they spoofed that number. The number they called from is 619-511-8211. First they claimed to be calling from Hilton with a free hotel night. But when they talked to me, there was never again any mention of Hilton or a free hotel stay. Instead, they wanted me to buy two vacations (to Mexico and the Caribbean) for $649 plus $99 fee. I said I would have to research it and talk to my husband. Then the girl who said her name was Ingrid gave me the number 877-299-9239. She said she would call me back in a day or so after I had "gotten my husband excited about the trip". I am not sure why she thought my intention in the intervening time was to "get my husband excited about the trip" rather than to research whether they were attempting to scam me--I guess I sound pretty stupid. The supposed name of their company is Vacation Station MX. The website they directed me to is www.vacationstationmx.com which only registered its domain name in January of this year. I assume they do this every few months or so and scam a bunch of people then start all over again with a new name and new website. They don't even have a street address or phone number on their website. Their address is just "Cancun". It will be interesting to see what number they call me back from in a day if they call back. Since they think I was a mark, they will probably pass my number around and I will be getting lots of scam calls now. I will report all of them as well.
