From Evicore who approve medical procedure requests for insurance companies. Call was to advise my procedure had been approved.

A computerized voice requested me to confirm my name and birth date - I requested "agent" and was connected to a human who wanted same info. Before I would answer asked which company this was and she responded Evicore (which she said was 3rd party vendor of Cigna). She continued to ask me if I was waiting for a lab test preauth and I said yes, however she then told me she did not have that info in her system and wondered out loud if "Franklin" in North Carolina handled my account. I said this sounds like a scam which she assured me was not. But then I asked why did I receive a call and she could not answer. I then hung up and called Cigna who confirmed that they do use Eviore for Pre-auth for certain lab tests, called a different number (with me on the phone) and got a Evicore rep on phone who confirmed my pre-auth info. I explained (to the Evicore rep) that their system is horrible how they contact patients and they sound like scammers when calling us.

Caller ID said "EVICORE" so I let the machine pick up and screened the call. Supposedly to say that some medical procedure has been "approved", but I didn't press 1 to say "yes it's him" so it didn't leave any more of a message. Several other websites have people saying that it's actually Aetna but other people saying "No, it ISN'T Aetna -- I called them directly and Aetna said it isn't their number." Yes, we have Aetna for health insurance -- and yes my husband is scheduled for surgery in a couple of months. But no, I never heard of Evicore before today, and no, I don't just answer calls when I don't recognize the number or what's on the caller ID. And if it really IS Aetna, they can damned well call him at work, since that's where we get our insurance through. Not call in the middle of the day at the house; AND NOT do it as a robocall....

Aetna services calling to confirm that a procedure requested by the doctor was approved. The automated system left a voicemail with a case number. I called back and again was an automated system, but gave me the information.
