I have no idea why these people on here are answering numbers they don't know and talking to complete strangers. JUST DON'T ANSWER IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE NUMBER! Very simple. It's a bottom feeding collector for American express.

Important! This number (877-434-3248) is NOT from American Express. They are commuting fraud by claiming they are AMEX. Apparently (after research by an investigator) They are a credit mill firm that buys up old uncollected debt from banks and other debtors with bogus inflated amounts. For example, they will attempt to claim the debt is $10,000 when in actuality the debt over 25 years ago may have been only $500. They buy these uncollected debts for absolutely nothing (literally pennies) then try to intimidate unsuspecting people that they owe a 25 year old debt with hard treats and then settle for about $1000. DO NOT BE TRICKED BY THESE CON ARTIST! If you ever had a debt over 7 years old, it's over (uncollected) and don't you dare feel a bit guilty about it because the original debtor charged it off as a loss years ago and the IRS gave them a tax credit (in other words, they didn't lose a dime). So PLEASE don't fall for these con artist and block their calls!

Don’t typically answer calls from unfamiliar numbers. Hung up accidentally and then called back. Recording said that I had reached an “Amex call center,” an immediate red flag. The desperation of these scams is leading to greater transparency in their scamming and less sophistication.

Rep asked to speak to someone i know, then asked if i was their spouse. i interrupted them over and over with questions like, "what is this about, who are you calling on behalf, where are you calling from". i told her how dare she call my phone and have no introduction and have no information on what she's "supposed to ask". i terminated the call.

American Express (Company) reported by


Elvis from American Express called on a recorded line and stated that a collection had been returned to them from the 3rd party. They were calling to offer me a resolution to the balance. I asked for this information in writing. He said he already mailed it. He asked to confirm address. He said he had a PO BOX in (state). I asked him what city and he said "Washington". I told him that is not my city. Then I asked him which PO BOX - he argued - asked him the # of the PO Box and he refused and said I had to tell him. Switched me to a manager who denies that they sent me an offer in the mail. I told him that they are not American Express and he rattled off credit information / payments and refused to read back my address. I told him that they were not American Express and he started yelling and He threatened that they were going to mark my my account negatively because I would not resolve the account right now. This is a total scam! Watch out. Of note, I did call them back and informed them that they messed with the wrong person - spouse is DSHS agent .....
