I picked up and there was silence for 15 seconds before they hung up on me. This seems fairly indicative that it's an automated call list. A machine makes phone calls down a list of numbers but they only have a response when you pick up some of the time. When calling back, I got an automated message claiming to be Sallie Mae and asking for my social security number. Never give out your ssn over the phone. I do have loans with them, but do not owe on these loans.

While I am a Sallie Mae customer, they would have no reason to call me. They say they want to offer me an "important business opportunity". I called the number right back, and it claimed to be Sallie Mae, and wanted me to punch in my SOS number. Absolutely not. Don't ever give out your SOS number over the phone. No company needs it, nor should have that information.

Robo call directing me to NOT call the number listed on caller id, but rather 1 of 2 numbers. Saying it's about my "sallie mae accounts". call doesn't replay in order for me to have written down those 2 numbers. I wanted to check them as well. Call is fake.
