A woman with a heavy accent called our office and asked for someone I have never heard of before. I asked if they were calling to verify employment as we do have a high turnover in construction. She said "yes". I informed her that all employment verification requests must be in writing and then she hung up on me. It has been my experience that legitimate callers will ask for a fax number to send the request -- those that hang up are usually in collections or scammers.
