I've received multiple calls from this number so I thought it was spam. However, they always left a voicemail and said that they were a debt collector from OneMain (a legitimate financial company). Since I do not have any history with OneMain I contacted them directly through their website to explain my issue. I was given a Customer Care number where I called and learned that someone -who actually has a debt in collections- likely wrote down the wrong phone number. Then, I actually called 888-265-20xx and spoke with a representative, Greg. I explained my situation to him. He asked for my number (I didn't mind giving that out, they obviously already had it!). Then he asked if I knew of any individual by a particular name, and I didn't. That was that! Everyone that I spoke with was very professional and polite. If you are receiving calls from this number, you may very well have a debt in collections! Or, if you're like me, they simply have the wrong number associated with an account.
