I received a call from a man pretending to be an Amazon customer service rep in the fraud department from this number 888280-4331 stated his name is Michael Cava with employee ID#8mzn2002, and case ID#884090689, stating someone was charging $720 of unauthorized charges of items to my Amazon Account. Is this a scam or not?

This is a scam. They spoof the number to make it seem legitimate as this is easy to do on outgoing calls to someone.

They are pretending to be an Amazon customer service number. If you contact them for help they will tell you to download QS in your appstore which is a TeamViewer QuickSupport. This will allow them to take over your phone and steal financial information and make bank transfers.

After finding an item delivered to a neighbors home, rather than mine, I called. Odd that the Russian accented call center agent asked for my email and home address. A post call email ostensibly from Amazon contained three typos...Reported to [email protected].
