Call actually came from a (faked) local number from my area. Left a voicemail explaining I had a DirecTV offer (despite me and my family having never been a DirecTV customer for any duration) and requesting I call back at this number (888-879-27xx).

Offering a promotion. This is not AT&T or direct tv. If you want to verify direct tv offers go to their website and either chat with agent online or call. Att will also Allow you to have a secured passcode on your account. It’s an added layer of protection. If you have it an receive a sales call give them a fake password - sometimes it’s fun to mess with scammers

Received a voicemail requesting I call this number back, as I qualified for 50% off my DirecTV package I called DirecTV customer service and they advised that this was not them and was a scam and to not give these people any information.

Att may claim no affiliation but after a call from this number, my service package was changed, so they do have some kind of access to your account, as I did not give them any account information, just simply said sure, I will take the free upgrades...the following month, my bill was higher and when I called DTV advised I upgraded my package. They agreed to cancel but refused to remove the charges...60.00 more...then they were still there for 2 months. I canceled my service over this issue and they still claim plausible deniability.

AT&T DirectTv Offering a 50% Discount on Existing Account (Scam call) reported by


Amazing! The person at the number handles the call exactly the way a call to the actual provider would. A message on my vm left this number to call and get a 50% discount off my current DirectTv monthly bill. I reached a person they requested information to verify my account. Unfortunately not thinking I Provided him with my information I was then put on hold so that he could "look up my account and see what is available," returning he states "We're offering a promotion where your monthly bill will be discounted by 50% for a 3-year period," and jokingly he adds "of course there is a catch in order to receive this discount all customers are paying for 12 months in advance. that's a one-time payment of $1,000 ans my next payment would not be due for 12 months at which time it will be at the 50% off amount". I asked a few more questions was put on hold and finally hung up on. I then call AT&T DiretTv to make sure the call was legit and was told NO IT IS A SCAM CALL gave them all the information hopefully they can get it to stop. Good Luck
