They asked for my name, I said yes, he then said I expressed interest in joining the navy. I told him that was incorrect and he said he would take me off the “list” and I hung up.

Calling from a number that does not match the US navy 1800 recruiting number instead using a 1888. Was seeking my DOB/SSN/mailing address. I clearly know I did not contact the US Navy since I live in Canada and live in Canada and they called my Canadian phone number. Confronted the caller about the discrepancy of him calling a Canadian and he still wanted me to provide my info. Lol. That’s not how the real military works, you need to either be a US citizen or live in the US and have a green card. Do not divulge your personal info to these scammers you will regret it. If your interested in military service apply through the known sources like in person or on the website.
