Craigslist scammer (Scam call) reported by

I posted an ad on Craigslist to sell a pickup topper. Within hours I received a text. As is usual in this type scam, he (or she) would send me a cashier's check for more than double the asking price and I would then pay for the shipping. I led the scammer on for almost a week. He sent me a "cashier's check" which I deposited. He then wanted me to take a picture of the deposit receipt and send it to him to confirm that I had deposited the check. I didn't do that. I told him that I would wait for the check to clear. He then wanted me to send the difference by some "Zell" app. I declined that too. I think a good approach with these people is to waste as much of their time as possible. Of course, my wife disagrees.

Craigslist Scam (Call centre) reported by

I posted an item for sale on Craigslist and received a text from this number offering to buy the item, site unseen. He wanted to pay full price and said he would send me a certified check via USPS next day. He said the check would be for over the amount and I should take my payment and use the remainder to pay his shipper. This is an obvious scam. I didn't fall for it and hope that this helps others so they wont fall for it either. Good luck out there, everyone :)

CRAIGSLIST SCAM!!! (Scam call) reported by

I initially received text from 530-363-1573 about an ad I had posted on CL. He wanted my name and address and then was going to send me a check for ~1900.00 for a stinky old worn out couch and then wanted me to refund most of that for "shipping costs" I knew it was a scam, so I gave him a fake name and address. He then told me his name was "David" and to use his other phone number which is the 925-471-5611 number. DO NOT CASH THIS CHECK!!! It is fake and could get YOU in trouble with the bank.
