They called to try and tell me that the government had picked me out of 1500 people to receive a grant of 9,500. They were insistent of wanting to know my personal information so they could "process the claim so I could get the money" I told them never to call my phone again and in fact I knew I didn't ever sign up, commit a bankruptcy or any other kind of bs they were trying to tell me I had done. He hung up the phone very quickly and i reported the call to my carrier (Verizon). These people are scam artists, please do not be fooled into giving out ANY personal details!

I don't know why it typed twice I was offered $9000 government grant but had to pay $245 one time fee of which I would get back and they can put the $9000 on a prepaid credit card or Western Union. But, they had to receive the $245 first preferably being sent by either westing union or buying a prepaid credit card. This is a scam!

Called several times saying thet they were with the US Dept of Treasury and then when I told him that I had already several times asked him and his colleagues to "stop f***ing calling me" he replied with "Oh, you asked us to stop f***ing calling you? Well, I found you on fast(face?)book and you are looking so sexy. Let's meet up. I am wanting to f**k you." He provided my name and my email address.

Randomly selected to receive grant from federal government (Scam call) reported by


I have received approximately 25 phone calls over the past week from this Washington, DC phone number. Most of the time when I answer the phone the line is silent and then hangs up. However on at least 4 occasions I spoke with 4 different individuals. I do not remember their names (they keep calling me so I will log them and report these individuals) but each one of them greats me and informs me that because of my recent loan activity, I am a student utilizing Student loans, that I have been "randomly selected" to receive a grant from the federal government. They tell me this is a grant that I do not need to pay back and that they would like me to use it to pay my bills. The amount of grant money offered to me changed based on who I was talking to. Caller 1 told me I was selected to receive $7000, caller 2 said $9250, caller 3 said $6000, and caller 4 said $7250. Out of curiosity I played along with the phone calls... that is until I asked the question "ok, so what's the catch?" Immediately after asking this question every person that I spoke to hung up the phone. This is clearly a scam operation and I will continue to field their phone calls In order to ascertain certain information that will allow me to take extreme legal action

The call came from a DC number saying that I was "randomly selected" for a Government Grant. When I asked questions he either couldn't hear me or pretended not to hear the question, but didn't answer the legitimate questions: "Who are you representing?" "What is this for?" etc. I said, "No. Thank you." He responded, "Um...OK." And hung up.
