Said someone had been given an american express card using my name and bought a gun for $1796.00 in washington DC. I needed to go to wasington dc and visit the fbi headquarters or they could get information over the phone to complete the investigation. they did have my name, birthdate and the last four digits of my ss number.

Automated recording said my SSN was suspended due to fraud and to press 1. Then I received a person with a thick accent of some kind who started asking me for information and I hung up. Then they tried to call back using the number listed in the other comments as the FBI number and I did not answer.

Just received call stating they were from the Social Security Agency and my ss# is involved in fraudulent activity and my card was to be suspended in the next 24 hrs. He asked me to verify my name and telephone number. I told him "you called me, so you tell me" He said he needed me to say it for verification. I told him to go F himself and hung up.

The call came in with a voice recorded message saying there's suspicious activity on my Social Security Number, press 1 to talk to an officer, I pressed 1, someone picked up the phone and the person sounded like someone from Africa, and he gave me one or two names and asked if I was that person, I said no, then he hung up. The background was noisy, and his speech was unintelligible and did not sound professional at all.

Fake number claiming to be FBI. Google searching it does show it as FBI, but in a different state, (the number that shows when someone calls can be easily faked). I'm sure if it was the real FBI, they wouldn't be trying to contact me from several states away when I know they have a local office. Or they would just show up at my door. For sure a scam.
