Using Microsoft name to try to elicit private information. (Scam call) reported by


Left msg on the answering machine claiming to be representing Microsoft and stating that our subscription (which we don't have) needed to be renewed. Obviously a phishing scam. We did not return the call.

Robocall Claiming to Be Microsoft (Scam call) reported by


Robocall claiming to be from Microsoft & that I needed to call (I believe the number in the robocall was the same as what showed on the Caller-ID.) The message was that I should call in to pay to get my license extended. As I do not have any Microsoft subscriptions I knew this was not correct (I get this sort of call on an irregular basis but this is the first time I recall seeing one from this area code.) The caller had a slight accent that I could not identify & there was some anomalies in the phrases implying the person who created the script was not a native English speaker.

Called my cell, phoned back from work and got a live person in a noisy room trying to get me to log onto my computer to "unsubscribe" from their service (Name?), which I couldn't understand after asking 3 times. I promptly thanked them, told them I understood completely and would be calling the FBI. But, seriously, shouldn't the FCC be doing something about these scammers?

I too received a robo call from this same number, cut off at the beginning and tell me my last chance not to incur a charge. I called this number and a person answered. Told him to quit calling me and they are just a scam and he hung up.
