They called and claimed I had stayed at a resort recently which I had not. I told her she had the wrong number several times and she kept asking me if she could transfer me to their travel agent who would set up their fabulous trip to Florida for me. I ended up hanging up because she refused to hear that I hadn't stayed at any resort. She couldn't give me a name for whom she was calling for either.

I got the same call today. Didn't ask if I could hear them, but when I first answered she said hello twice and then said she was having trouble with her headset and then launched into her speech. I hung up midway through.

I have heard about this scam, but it's the first time I have received a call. The caller pretends to be from a sweepstakes and he starts by asking, "Can you hear me?" If you answer, "yes," apparently they record you saying, "yes" and use this as phone authorization for whatever else they are trying to scam you into. Apparently these scammers use a screen so that the number shows up as a familiar area code, to get you to answer.
