Stated that DTE was going to give me a 30 percent discount starting next month and each month after. I asked why repeatedly and he did not reply. The voice was foreign and sounded like he was in a room with other telemarketers. I hung up. Remember if it sounds to good to be true it usually is a scam.

No Scam Victim Here!!

I received the same call today! He started calling me by a different last name, told me he was in the major city closest to me...even though the caller ID said "Detroit" 313-349-5000 - it's totally the wrong area code for our part of the state! LOL He also gave me an address "as mine" and asked me to confirm, after I had him repeat it so I could run a Google search on the address, which definitely was NOT mine, I lied and said "yes." LOL!!! Yes, he tried to offer me the 30% discount starting next month and for 12 months in total. He asked me if I was a customer of Consumers Energy or DTE. I said "I'm not sure, I can't remember, because I've lived in four different states." So I just picked DTE. Then he wanted to "verify" my account number. He asked if (some four digits, couldn't understand completely) were the end of the account number, I said yes. LOL!! THEN he said he needed me to verify the "ENTIRE" account number. (Unbelievable!!!) I told him that if he had my account number that he only "Verifies" the account by the last few digits, NOT the entire number. He starts asking me if I want the 30% discount or not. I just started talking most times then the guy would cut me off. I tried to continue talking and he then said he wasn't cutting me off but that I was cutting HIM off. (I'm really trying not to laugh or yell at this point!!) I kept telling him that I wasn't going to give him my full account number because he said he had it and I ALREADY verified it with the last four digits (that he offered me as my numbers). He started talking over me even more and then I just lost it and started telling him this was a SCAM!!!! So somewhere in the middle of this when I was really having trouble understanding him, he was apparently trying to forward me to his (something- couldn't understand) and that was the 2nd and final guy I spoke to during this SCAM call. I checked with DTE, this is definitely NOT from them. Caller specifically claims to be from DTE; asks to confirm information with you to reduce your rate. I suspect they are trying to "slam" your energy service and switch you to another provider.

A lady called and asked me if I knew that I was entitled to a gas refund on my energy bill. I told her she should know if she was calling me. I said her number did not show up as coming from my energy company. She said she was from the energy company and she chuckled. I said I didn't believe her and hung up-

I received a call from this number today. Did not answer and they left no message. If this is a DTE scam, it is the third number they have used to call me claiming to be from DTE. Sometimes they leave a message and sometimes they don't.

I had a missed call from this Michigan number on my mobile but no message left. Also similar number called me recently, probably the same marketing company? don't wanna call back since I do not know the number - it could be just a robocaller testing if my number is responding, don't want to let them know my line is active... People please did someone answer it? Who is behind this number?

I received a call today from that number and they said dte energy. Thought it was odd since it was not their regular number. It was a foreign voice and I couldn't understand them and asked for someone that spoke English better. The guy said he was in Ann Arbor and I wonder why Ann Arbor since DTE is not there. I didn't give any information and said for them to call back later when husband was home. I will inform him that this is a scam and to blow them off since I checked out the phone number here. If dte wanted to give you a credit why do you have to approve it???? Makes no sense to this senior citizen.

To "dk" please be careful and don't even let them know your husband is not home then (whenever it is they call)! Especially if he is out of the house at the same time, you don't want them to know when you might be alone!!!! Please be safe! Talk to your family and work out a "system or code" for when they might call you from a number you wouldn't recognize, then you can just not answers calls you don't recognize, unless they meet the "system or code" that you've set up with family or close friends. Take care!
